If you cut hair, run a barbershop or rent a chair, you've probably seen "no commission" on a pricing page and thought: finally. Then the real bill shows up with extra lines. This guide is a checklist, so you can find those lines before you sign up, not after.

"No commission" can mean different things

The word gets used for at least two different promises:

  • No cut of your bookings. The app never takes a percentage of what a client pays you for a service.
  • No fees tied to your clients at all. No charge for new clients, no marketplace fees, and no add-ons you need just to run the shop.

The first is common. The second is the one that decides what you pay. Read the pricing page for both.

6 charges to check before you pay

Charge What to look for Question to ask
Percentage of bookings A cut of each booking or each service sale Is any percentage taken from my bookings?
New-client fee A percentage of a first booking from a marketplace client Do I pay when a new client books through your marketplace?
Marketplace fee A fee to be listed or promoted Is there a fee for the marketplace, or can I switch it off?
Add-ons Texts, check-in, payroll, commissions and a website sold separately What do I pay for the features I use every day?
Card processing A percentage and a fixed amount on each card payment What's the card rate, and who sets it?
Setup fee and contract An up-front fee, a yearly term or a cancellation charge Can I cancel anytime?

Card processing is the one nobody avoids. Every app that takes card payments passes on processing fees. What matters is that the app says so plainly and doesn't add its own cut on top.

Do the math for your own team

Don't compare the price on the front page. Compare the bill for your team, with everything you'd use. Here is how a flat price works at SupaDay, from the pricing page (read 2026-10-28):

Team Plan Monthly price
1 person Grow $14
4 people Grow $56
5 people Grow $70
10 people Grow $99 (capped)
18 people Business $149 (capped)

The price depends on how many people work for you. It doesn't depend on how many clients book, how much you charge or whether the client is new. A busy month costs the same as a slow one.

Now do the same sum for every app you're considering: price for your staff count, plus each add-on you'd actually turn on, plus any per-client fee on new clients. Our Vagaro alternatives comparison shows that math for a 4-person team, including add-ons and new-client fees.

What you get for the flat price

On SupaDay's Grow plan, these are included in the per-person price, with nothing extra to turn on:

Business is $22 per team member a month, never more than $149, with a 3-person minimum. It adds Google review requests, marketing texts and emails, a website builder and multiple locations.

What SupaDay does charge

Being straight about this is the point of the checklist:

  • The per-person monthly price above, month to month.
  • Standard card processing fees on card payments. Cash payments and bookings aren't charged.
  • Texts beyond your plan. Grow includes 500 a month and Business 2,000, pooled across the team. When they run out, text reminders pause and email keeps going.
  • A card reader, only if you want tap-to-pay. It's optional.

What SupaDay doesn't charge: a cut of your bookings, setup fees, marketplace fees, a charge for new clients, or a contract. There is no annual discount either. It's one price, billed monthly.

Barbershop or hair salon: what to check first

  • Barbershops with walk-ins: check that the walk-in line and check-in are included, not an add-on. Our barbershop software roundup lists what to compare.
  • Hair salons paying stylists by commission: check that you can set a different rate per stylist and per service without moving to a higher plan. See commission splits for hair salons.
  • Chair renters and small teams: the price per person matters more than the headline plan price. Work out your staff count first, then compare the best scheduling apps for small salons.

Try it before you pay

SupaDay's free trial is 30 days with no credit card. It runs on Grow, and you can upgrade to Business in one click. After it ends, nothing is charged: the account pauses, the booking page goes offline and your data is kept. Start your free trial and run a real week of bookings before you decide.

The bottom line

"No commission" is a starting line, not the whole answer. Check for new-client fees, marketplace fees, add-ons, card processing, setup fees and contract terms, then compare the bill for your own team size. SupaDay's answer is one flat price per person, never more than $99 on Grow, with no cut of your bookings.
