How to Set Up Your Checkout Menu of Services and Products

4 min readUpdated

Quick answer

Open Checkout, click the + button above the item grid and choose Add Category. Name it, pick a Color and click Create. With the category selected, click + again, choose Add Item, enter the Item Name and a price (or leave Price empty for a custom amount), then click Add Item.

Open in SupaDay

Your checkout menu is the grid of buttons you tap when ringing up a client. Group everything you sell into colored categories, like Haircuts, Color, Nails or Retail, so the front desk can find each item in one tap.

The checkout menu is separate from the services clients book online. Adding an item here doesn't change your booking menu, and the other way around. To set up what clients can book, see add your services.

Add a category

  1. Click Checkout in the top menu.
  2. Click the + button at the top right of the item grid.
  3. Choose Add Category.
  4. In the New Category window, type a Name, like "Haircuts" or "Retail".
  5. Pick a Color. Every item in the category uses it.
  6. Click Create.

The new category appears in the list on the left, showing how many items it holds.

Add items to a category

  1. Click the category on the left to select it.
  2. Click the + button above the item grid and choose Add Item.
  3. In Add Item to (your category's name), type the Item Name, like "Haircut", "Hair Gel" or "Collagen Mask".
  4. Enter a Price. Leave it empty if the price changes from client to client.
  5. Click Add Item.

Add Item only shows when a category is selected. If you're on All Items, pick a category first.

Use custom prices

Items without a price show Custom on their button. They're handy for services that vary, like color work, long hair or a design add-on.

When you tap a custom item on a ticket:

  1. A price window opens with the item's name at the top.
  2. Type the Amount.
  3. Tap Continue, then choose who did the service.

Edit or delete an item

Every item button has a three-dot menu (⋯) in its top corner.

  • Edit opens Edit Item, where you can change the Item Name or Price. Click Save.
  • Delete removes the item from your menu right away.

Past sales aren't affected. Old tickets in Transactions keep the item name and price they were sold at.

Rename, reorder or delete a category

Click the three-dot menu (⋯) on a category in the left-hand list:

Option What it does
Move Up Moves the category one place up the list
Move Down Moves it one place down
Edit Change the Name or Color, then click Save
Delete Removes the category and every item in it

Heads up: Deleting a category happens straight away and deletes all of its items too. If you want to keep some of its items, add them to another category before you delete it.

The category list with these options shows on computers and on tablets turned sideways. On a phone, categories show as tabs at the top of the Add Item list, and you can still use the + button there to add a category or item.

Arrange items on the grid

On a wide screen, like a laptop or desktop monitor, you can drag items around inside a category:

  1. Select a category (dragging doesn't work in All Items).
  2. Click or press an item and drag it.
  3. Drop it on any empty spot. SupaDay remembers the spot.

Put your most popular services in the top row so they're quickest to tap. On smaller screens and in All Items, items fill in neatly in order.

Ring up items from your menu

Once your menu is ready, tap New Ticket and tap items to add them. See how to check out a client for the full checkout steps.

  1. Tap the services
  2. Add a tip
  3. Charge the card
  4. Paid

Tap items from your menu to build the ticket, then take payment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell retail products like shampoo or nail polish?

Yes. Add a category such as "Retail" and add each product as an item with its price. When you ring one up, tap Skip — no service provider if no staff member should get credit for it.

Does SupaDay track my product inventory?

No. SupaDay doesn't count stock or warn you when a product runs low. Products in your checkout menu are simply buttons with a name and price, so you'll need to keep track of stock yourself.

Do I have to add my services twice?

Your checkout menu and your bookable services are set up separately. Walk-ins checked out from the turn tracker bring the service they checked in for onto the ticket automatically, but for everything else you tap items from your checkout menu.

Can I change a price for just one client?

Yes. Add a discount on that ticket with Add Discount, or set the item up with no price so SupaDay asks for the amount each time.

Who can edit the checkout menu?

Managers and admins can add, edit and delete categories and items from the Checkout screen. Checkout is part of the Grow and Business plans.
